About Alarms
What types of alarms do you offer?
We offer a wide range of alarms such as wired house alarm, wireless burglar alarm, business alarm, bells-only alarm or monitored alarm, smoke alarm and fire alarm for domestic or commercial.
Why is ADT alarms so cheap on your website?
ADT alarm offers are limited and subject to 36 months monitoring and maintenance contract @ 26 per month. The ADT alarm installation cost is currently subsidised by Eagle Security Solutions (Eagle) in partnership with ADT Fire and Security (ADT). Eagle receives commission and bonus payments from ADT for qualified ADT alarm installations.
How does the monitored alarm work?
Monitored alarm connects to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) which is a remote central station manned 24 hours a day 365 days a year, via a telephone line, radio or IP network. The monitored alarm sends signals to the ARC when the alarm is set or unset, if it detects intrusion or burglary, smoke or fire, when a personal attack button is manually activated and or there is a fault with the system such as electrical mains failure. The ARC verifies the alarm signals and take appropriate course of action such as alerting the owner, key-holders and or Police or fire authorities.
What happens to my alarm monitoring if my phone line is cut?
A telephone line cut will prevent your alarm system from signalling to the ARC and in that circumstance, the ARC will not be able to monitor the alarm premises. A solution is to utilize dual path signalling such Redcare GSM or Dualcom GPRS for your alarm communication link with the ARC.
What is a Redcare alarm?
Redcare alarm is referred to a monitored alarm which adopts BT Redcare for its signalling such as dual path signalling provided by Redcare GSM or secured single path signalling provided by Redcare Classic. Redcare alarm ensures that there is an active communication link between the alarm premises and the ARC even when the telephone line has been cut.
Can I have a house alarm that is not monitored?
YES. You have other options such as Bells-only alarm which makes loud audible noise to deter intruders or alert the neighbours of a break in. It is also possible for your house alarm to send messages to your mobile phone via an in-built or stand alone text dialler or Speech Dialler.
Would I be able to set my burglar alarm at night?
YES. Your alarm allows for full setting when you go away, part setting of a section of the premises or outdoor building, and night setting such as alarming the ground floor whilst keeping upstairs and the bedrooms unalarmed.
How long will it take to install my alarm?
It takes on average 7 hours to install a standard hard wired house alarm or an intruder alarm in a small office or shop. Wireless alarm installation takes less time in comparison to hard wired alarm, however large intruder alarm or fire alarm system can take few days to install.
Will the intruder alarm work with my pets?
Through careful system design and professional installation, intruder alarms have been installed in thousands of homes with Pets with notable positive results. We also offer Pet friendly motion sensors in our home alarm to accomodate limited number and size of house pets, albeit with some caution.
How reliable is your wireless alarm?
Our range of wireless alarms incorporate quality wire free alarm components from reputable alarm manufacturers such as Honeywell, Risco, Visonic and DSC. The wireless alarms are grade 2 class VI radio which operate on 868 MHz narrow band frequency and comply with British and European standard. These wireless alarms are reliable and currently account for more installations in homes than hard wired alternatives.
Would my wireless broadband interfere with the wireless alarm? NO. Your wireless alarm will operate on 868 MHz narrow band radio channel which is exclusive to security systems and as such unlikely to receive interferences from your wireless broadband or mobile phones.
Can I add extra sensors to my alarm package?
YES. Extra sensors such as motion sensor, vibration sensor, smoke detector and more can be added to your alarm package if required; at additional costs.
What guarantee do you give on your alarm system?
We provide one year parts and labour guarantee on our alarm installations commencing from the installation date and provide NSI certificate of compliance. We also offer preventative annual alarm maintenance service at competitive price to commence from the anniversary of the alarm installation.
How soon can you install my burglar alarm?
Ideally within seven days from placing an order for a house alarm or small business alarm; however we can consider a fast track installation in emergency circumstances. Alarm installation for large premises may take longer days subject to varying factors.

Security Tips

Burglar Alarms - Visible burglar alarms make burglars think twice. There are many burglar alarm systems on the market, ranging from cheaper DIY alarms to more sophisticated alarms; including wireless alarms; costing hundreds of pounds. The system should be professionally installed to comply with BS4737 or EN50131/PD6662 standards.
Remember, a badly-fitted alarm can create problems in itself. Don't install a DIY system unless you have the electrical knowledge and practical skill to do so. As a guide, make sure your security system is installed by a NSI or SSAIB approved company.

Doors - Secure All Doors. If doors are not secure, neither is your home. Fit back and front doors with five lever mortice deadlocks - and use it. Fit all exterior doors - top and bottom - with bolts.

Windows - A third of burglars get in through a back window. Fit key-operated window locks to all downstairs windows, those which can't be seen from the street and easily accessible upstairs window, e.g. those above a flat roof or by a drainpipe.

Lighting - Good lighting can deter a thief. Think of having external security light with infra-red sensor that switches the light on for a few moments when it detects movement in its range.

Home & Away - Don't tempt the thief - keep all valuable items out of sight. Don't advertise your absence when you're on holiday, or even when out at work or shopping or at home sleeping. Most burglars will only tackle an unoccupied house.

Fire Detection - Protect your safety & the safety of your family. With all security, consideration must be given to the risk of fire and means of escape. Fit smoke detector and even carbon monoxide detector which detects gas leakages.

Personal Attack - For personal safety and peace of mind; consider a stand alone panic attack alarm or an intruder alarm with panic attack facility. It is useful to summon help or police response when you are attacked or feel threatened by an intruder or a stranger in your home.

Home Insurance - Insurance will relieve you of the financial worry of replacing stolen goods and many insurance companies offer reduced premiums for people with good home security.
